FAVORITE ARCHIVE POSTS WEEK: Family Apple Crisp Recipe

It is sooo fun looking back on my blogging "journey"...and seeing photos from when we were in our old house..when sophie was little..and how i'm still in denial that this is a healthy recipe since there's apples in it... :)
....................................................................................................................................

I went to the Store to get some basics and especially candy for our trick or treaters..i got home without the candy..of course.. and had to make another run back later. But what i did grab was a bag of apples!! as soon as i saw them i was like mmm oh yes...it's chilly out..leaves are falling..it's hoodie weather and that means it's apple crisp time! and of course i had to get vanilla icecream. i texted the neighbor friends to stop by for apple crisp and vanilla ice cream..it was so fun! after the big rush of trick or treaters..and sophia's brief melt down and bed time.. the neighbors came over with their little ones and we put a pretty good dent into the pan. but luckily we still had some left over.. hehe. i skipped eating the remaining candy in our bowl and went for the apple crisp this morning! haha.
When i got married my mom had scanned some of her favorite recipes and gave me copies..this was one of them from her Betty Crocker Cookbook! she marked her changes on the page...and i went from that. the only thing i do different is double the topping recipe..can't get enough of the yummy crumbly goodness. below is the recipe with my changes.

Ingredients:
Topping-
2 Cup sifted all-purpose flour
1 Cup Raw rolled oats
2 Cups light-brown sugar, firmly packed
1 cup butter (i used margarine)

Apple Filling-
4 Cups cut apples, in 1/2 inch pieces (I used 8 apples)
3/4 Cup granulated sugar
1/4 Cup unsifted all-purpose flour
1/2 Teaspoon cinnamon

Peel and Chip your apples - watch out for cute little taste testers who will eat them all if you let them. :)

Pre-Heat Oven to 375 degrees.
Make topping: In large bowl, combine flour, oats, and brown sugar, mixing well.

With a fork, stir in butter to make a crumbly mixture.

Make Apple Filling: In lightly greased pan 7 x 11 inch baking dish, combine apples, granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, and 1/2 cup water; stir to mix well.

Sprinkle topping evenly over filling;

bake, uncovered, 35 minutes, or until topping is golden-brown and the apples are tender.

Serve warm, with vanilla ice cream or whip cream if you want! Enjoy!!

I stumbled over here from younghouselove.com. Great recipe, but I think your daughter's ears are more edible. What a gorgeous little thing! -Sunny
