Our DIY Hutch Makeover

I love my man.

and I love that he went to help an old lady clean

out her house and ended up with this hutch!

They were going to trash it..and he grabbed it up.

We painted it white to match our style more..soften it up.

I FINALLY had a place to display all of our pottery barn wedding dishes!

I eventually want to get cute new handles for the bottom storage..

and stencil the back wall! But for now.. I am one happy mama.

Ikea Chair Garage Sale Find- But smells like Smoke. Help!

Saturday morning we packed up the girls in the van.. and cruised around to different garage and estate sales. I love finding bargains! and thought it would be a good way to take advantage of the nice weather..and possibly find a doll house to DIY Update for Sophia's Christmas present!

No Doll house..but we lucked out and found a few AWESOME things that were on

our "that would be nice to get if it was cheaper!!" List.

I have had my eye on this Tullsta Ikea Chair for a while...

retails for $99. Priced at Garage Sale for $8.

I bargained the sweet lady down to $3. (I had a cute baby on my hip..)

I took her denim slip cover off...and the hubby scrubbed the chair...

but it still has a hint of smoke smell...Any favorite products I should use??

Planning on getting a new slipcover for it soon..hope that helps too.

Sienna was pretty excited about the whole thing. ;)

One man's trash, another MAMA'S treasure! Refurbishing Salvage Yard Pieces.

Ever since we moved to Pittsburgh i wanted to find a salvage yard to explore!! they are gold mines! Transformed pieces from a salvage yard/garage sale/reuse center can end up being a favorite piece in your home...and part of the fun is the bargain hunting/bartering!! You can get deals and with a little loving have a one of a kind in your home. :)

And then for some inspiration check out White Berry Reinvented! Holly's blog is one of my favorites! 

Here's photos from our past trip to a Salvage yard here in Pittsburgh: Construction Junction. LOVE IT. I want to go back and load up a truck. just need to find a truck first. haha.

ps. inspection for our new house went pretty well today considering it's a 104 yr old house.....haha. hoping that everything else goes smoothly. i already have paint colors and window treatments picked out for most of the house. hehe.

ps. i have the best husband ever.... came down from putting sophia to bed and opened up my laptop to this. :) he's so cute.

There is something so attainable feeling when you see real people experiencing amazing real life renovations!! it makes me feel like yes...i can do that!! hehe. If all goes well with the new house i can't wait to show step by step projects of our renovations and share prices items etc.. i think that people would find that helpful and it would keep me strict on our budget. hehe.

I love Candice Olson's eye when it comes to interior design! All of her spaces end up looking so luxurious. And most of the time completely over my budget...but...she inspires me and when i look at her before and afters i pull so many ideas from them! Use her vision and go out on the hunt for a bargain.There are plenty of concrete things that she does to make her spaces lovely that you could take and create for less. Save time and money by knowing the concept of the look you are wanting to create before you go out shopping!

What are some of your favorite details of these rooms?? My favorite are the window treatments...gives me great inspiration and the look i am gonna go out looking to create for less. Do you have a master bedroom re-do?? do share! I can't wait to decorate our next master bedroom.. i have so many ideas that i want to incorporate into the space...majority of them diy projects! i'll be posting those as soon as they happen! :)

GOOD NEWS: We are under contract!! they want to move fast..so we have to find a house. like now. haha. hopefully the one we fell in love with yesterday works out. By the end of June the veryy latest we will be moving! Feeling so blessed with everything coming together..but gonna keep on praying that there are no bumps along the way.
