Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars of your Dreams

I love to send out baked goods at christmas time! if its just dropping them at the doors of all our neighbors..or packing up and shipping some goodies to relatives far away! I love the baking of them..and i love packaging them up all cute and festive!

I've been trying to figure out what i want to send this year.. a must...is the classic chocolate chip bars. I'm a bit of a cookie snob....haha. and i love these! They are the classic Nestle Tollhouse recipe..but you add 1/4 cup more flour! A friend's mother made these for a house warming party once..and i loved them so much i asked for her trick to make them so tasty. It's all about the extra flour...and the right type of butter. (i used to use margarine...not as good. obviously.)

Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars of your Dreams
Ingredients
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

PREHEAT THE OVEN TO 350

Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract in large mixer bowl until creamy.

Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition....(OR AT THE SAME TIME LIKE I DID..HAHA.)
Combine flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl.
Gradually beat in flour mixture.
Stir in morsels and nuts.
Grease 15 x 10-inch jelly-roll pan. Spread into prepared pan...the extra flour makes it a little tough..maybe i'm just weak but if the hubby is around i make him do this part. my arms are tired from sophia to begin with. hehe.

 Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool in pan on wire rack. Makes 4 dozen bars.
