Valentines Day DIY- Paper Heart Garland Tutorial

This Paper Heart Garland was such a fun & quick Valentines Day DIY project
I love the impact that it made for my Valentines Day Photo Shoot.
It came together fast and was soooo cute!

This garland would be such a sweet touch across your mantle, doorway, window frame... to celebrate Valentines Day! Or even use as a backdrop for a party!

Enjoy the tutorial..stocked full of photos.
because i'm a visual girl. :)
and i have a cute personal assistant. :)

Garland supplies-
Scrap Book Paper: Joann's 75% off...$3 (small square booklet)
Craft Punches: Joann's- Bought when 40% off with gift card. (2 inch scalloped/circle & Heart craft punch)
ADDITIONAL GARLAND STYLE SUPPLIES........
Red & Pink Heart Doilies: Dollar Store- $1 for 30 pack
Extra Cupcake Toppers......Pretty Paperie-Already Had
Pink Thread: Already had.

I love this heart puncher! sophia enjoyed it too..she was my little helper (or so she thought) she would punch the hearts out with me and then turn it over to see all the hearts and giggle all excited! then we would count the hearts. and she would pretend like they were "friends"...anything/everything is a toy.
my sweet little sienna chilling in the background.
and yes that is a tent in my family room.....................
i cut out a variety of colors/patterns but ended up using just the dark and light pink colors...and then the heart pattern from my valentines day printable collections
but you could use whatever pattern/colors you like! red and white would be cute.
i chose the colors i did so that i could use it for other reasons throughout the year.
maybe a birthday party theme!
i am by no means an expert when it comes to my sewing machine... i am still learning as i go. i don't even know the correct terms to say! but what i do know is this came together beautifully and easily. and i really enjoyed sewing them up, it was relaxing..

--I lined up in front of my sewing machine the hearts in the pattern
i wanted so i could just grab and go!
--when i went to sew, i lined up the heart at a certain line
so that they wouldn't be top heavy....(pictured below)
--and then i ran them through...letting the machine go a few stitches inbetween..
before sliding in another heart! you could customize that to get the length you want.
i think i let it go down into the machine 3/4 times...
and then i made up another garland letting it go down 4/5 times.
i liked the variety.
and you are done! your very own valentines day cuteness....
that you can re-use every year!
here's my workspace.....keep'n it real.
i also made up a garland using dollar store heart doilies! sewed them up the same way...i just did the width between them wider to make it go farther.
and i also made up a garland using the extra cupcake toppers from my
Valentines Day Collection i had already printed.
I loved mixing the 3 different types of garlands to get the look I wanted.

be sure to check out the full Valentines Day Photo Shoot post to see how I
used the paper heart garlands!

Featured Follower+Baby Boy Nursery

I was so happy when i received an e-mail from a reader of mine who said
she used some of my tutorials and posted
them on her blogs: Growing up Gardner & Baby Gardner!
I hopped on over to check them out and was sooo excited to see what she did!
She used my New Baby-Gift for Hospital Visitors Tutorial. Cute little chocolate bar labels
When i was expecting my 2nd baby I made these up to gift to the Hospital Staff & Visitors

making gifts for hospital visitors was a fun nesting thing to do while waiting for baby.
and i got majorly spoiled by the nurses because of them!! ;)

She also used the idea of  the Big Sister Kit that I made up for my Sophia..
It was fun seeing what she included in her kit! Check the one she made up here.

After looking over both her blogs i knew i liked this girl..
but when i saw she threw a ultrasound reveal party too!!....
well lets just say i thought she was awesome. haha.
We threw an ultrasound reveal party for our Sienna and it was sooooooo fun.

While i was over at her blog..i came across her post featuring her son's nautical nursery and fell in love with all her DIY details!
I think this is such a cute theme for a baby boy nursery..
and it fits perfecty for her because her father is retired Navy!

thanks mrs. g for passing your blog along and for using my tutorials!!
i loved reading your posts..great job mama!
